need an DB2 ODBC

I have been searching all over and I cannot find or locate a DB2 odbc. We
setup SQL 2000 on a windows 2003 server that needs to pull data from an
iSeries AS400 using DB2. WE CANNOT LOCATE THE ODBC! Please, ANYONE who
can give us directon on where to get the driver, would be appreciated. We'v
e
located so many pages, but none have the actual download.
Can anyone help? All I need is that ODBC connection.
Thankshttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en

There has to be one out there, I've search IBM site, (no luck, I can't find
ANY downloads there), and I've tried MS site as well.
But thank you anyway

This page has the links to the DB2 client and the new fixpack 12 that
came out yesterday. It's not much fun configuring it, but neither is
DB2.|||Oops, sorry, I read too fast..
I use to extract a bunch of information from our AS/400 (DB2) on our SQL

well. Are you using Client Access in your company?

Need advice on reading material

Hello,

I'm new to SQL Server, have alot of experience with DB2 and Oracle,
and have been
tasked with supporting SQL Server. Could anyone suggest a good
administrator book?
Thanks!!

Dave SchaefferHi Dave

You don't say which version of SQL server you are going to use? Books online
is always a good place to start and the articles on MSDN and Technet are
always useful. You may want to look through some of the books on
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pr...ning/books.mspx
although it didn't show the William Stanek books
http://www.microsoft.com/MSpress/books/6794.asp for which there are both SQL
2000 and SQL 2005 editions.

The best thing may be to get down to a good bookshop and browse!

John

Need a query to compare tables

I have two identical tables on two DBs, DB1.Table1 and DB2.table2. DB1.Table1 has more data than DB2.Table1. I need to find out what data in DB1.Table1 is not in DB2.Table1, but I can't do it by the ROWGUID column because not all ROWGUID values were carried over the last time the DBs were split, so identical rows may not have the same rowguid value. And I can't use the PK column because that's the Identity column which is not unique between these two tables.
What I need to do is compare the combined columns in one table (not including the Identity and rowguid columns, of course) with the same columns in the other table.
Queries are not my strong point. Does anyone know how I can do this? I'm desperate!
Thanks in advance.
JohnJohn,
Assuming that there is another unique index in addition to the PK and
ROWGUID columns, use that to manage the joins. (If there is no other unique
identifier than the two that are not reliable, then the problem becomes much
harder.) Something like:
SELECT * FROM DB1.Table1
WHERE UniqueString + CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),UniqueInt)
NOT IN
(SELECT UniqueString + CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), UniqueInt)
FROM DB2.Table1)

Is there a way to compare the combined values of the rest of the columns? If not, then I'll have to use the ROWGUID column and hope duplicate records aren't created.
Thanks,
John

probably no other method than the clumsy way of comparing the whole record
in both table:
set concat_null_yields_null off
select t1.PK
from t1
left outer join t2
on t1.c1+t1.c2+t1.c3+... = t2.c1+t2.c2+t2.c3+...
where t2.PK is null
yields the records in t1 but not in t2, and
select t2.PK
from t2
left outer join t1
on t1.c1+t1.c2+t1.c3+... = t2.c1+t2.c2+t2.c3+...
where t1.PK is null
yields the records in t2 but not in t1. There is a checksum function that
may or may not help the processing. If your table is large, you may need to
cycle through the table.

Nb Months between 2 dates (one in DB2 format)

How can I get the number of months (or years or days...)
between the current_timestamp
an a date in the DB2 format ?
DateDB2 Char(26) = 2000-12-30-12.55.30.123456
DateSQL = GetDate() or Current_Timestampdatediff (mm,convert (datetime , substring(datedb2,1,10)),DateSQL )|||nope,

I've tried that sort of conversion but it seems
that the CONVERT(DateTime,...) function inverts
the month and the day

Convert(DateTime,'2000-12-30') >>> doesn't work !!!
Convert(DateTime,'2000-30-12') >>> works !!!

Is '2000-30-12' a standard English-Format-Date ?|||Convert(DateTime,'2000-12-30') >>> doesn't work !!!
Then try this >>> select Convert(DateTime,'2000-12-30',120)|||Thank you very much Enigma !
